So I actually got a new sketchbook the other day. I haven’t had a sketchbook in years. I promised Elly that I’d draw her a skunk for her birthday, but I ended up not having anything to draw it on, SOOOO this is a bit late.
I APOLOGIZE FOR TARDINESS, ELLY! And also because I drew this without reference and kinda faked certain spots I couldn’t remember. BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE IT~
Since I did get a couple of yeses, here are the Sonic/Universe pages I have that I’ve been lagging on adding to my art and animation gallery! Yes, I know you’ve all seen the #243 page to death at this point, but the others are still pretty cool, methinks.
OKAY OKAY I’M POSTING IT BEFORE ELLY THROTTLES ME.
Character: Geoffrey St. John (while mourning Hershey) Song: “Before I Die” Artist: Papa Roach
This song strikes me as something that’d happen while Geoffrey was sitting alone and wrestling with his grief over his late wife and the direction his life has taken. I can imagine him sitting by himself, probably at the site where he presumed she died, and ‘talking to her’ in an attempt to sort what’s going through his head.
There's been something that's been annoying me about your Saint Jon answer. Wouldn't Sally have "heard" Gefforey tell her his name, rather than seeing it spelled somewhere? Why would she be pronouncing it differently from that point onward? Saint Jon/Sin Jin is such a large grammatical gap only someone who saw it written somewhere would pronoun it that way, wouldn't they? I know you said accents but bah, it still bugs me.
It’s a good point, and one I hadn’t thought about before. Given the introduction they had in the comics, I think you’d be correct on that, since they met unexpectedly in the middle of a mission, and he introduced himself long before she ever saw it written. That’s an oversight on my part, and I’m glad you pointed it out.
Given that Sally’s blog is technically an AU, since I write with the premise of acknowledging what makes sense and modifying (or sometimes ignoring) that which doesn’t, I think all I can do is just put this in the modification category. If it ever comes up, I’ll tweak their first meeting enough so that she may have heard of him prior to their meeting, possibly through notes of her father’s or something. It’ll be a tiny enough detail that it wouldn’t rock the boat.
I think Nanite, you, and I should storm into Acorn Castle, swoop Geoffrey up, and take him to Disney World or something. And if he tries to object, I'll be all like "HELL NO, YOU'VE GONE THROUGH TOO MUCH BULLCRAP. TODAY YOU'RE GONNA HAVE SOME /FUN/."
have you ever just assumed that a word was pronounced a certain way and you end up pronouncing it incorrectly throughout your entire life and then one day someone corrects you and its like you can almost hear satan laughing as the flames of hell begin to seep up from underground and slowly burn you to death
Saint John, I’m lookin’ at you.
WAIT YOU MEAN IT’S NOT PRONOUNCED ‘SAINT JOHN’
According to Ken Penders, it’s actually pronounced “Sin Jin”.
But 1: this is the same guy who royally pissed off the fanbase including myself not too long ago, so I just said, “fuck it, i don’t care, i’m callin’ him saint john. come at me penders.”
and 2: Even if you knew this before hand, would anyone think to pronounce it that way?
Sally got an ask about this the other day. I think I can resolve it in a way that everyone will be happy. X3
Who wants to hear more about Sally-mun’s weird ass dreams? I knew you would!
So you know how Sonic Underground was going to get an epilogue in Sonic Universe, but that’s been kicked aside for who knows how long? I had a dream that the epilogue was actually going to be animated instead. I don’t know if it was just one episode, a couple, or a full season, but what happened was I had been watching a movie, and was surprised to find this Sonic Underground epilogue when I turned it off.
Buuut I promised you a weird dream, not a badass dream.
At the exact scene that I happened to come across the episode, Sonic wasn’t on-screen. Neither was Manic or Sonia. No, just then, the person that happened to be on-screen was… Hershey. Hershey, fighting against some wizardess. Hershey, who has no presence in Underground, making her grand reveal as being alive in the epilogue!
By the way, did you notice I’m not using her full name? I’m not calling her Hershey Cat because, for some reason, she wasn’t a cat. She was a dog! Specifically it looked like she was a non-poofy poodle of some sort.
And it still gets better. I had apparently come to the episode near the end, because shortly after I found it the main characters arrived, and they all took out the sorceress character and hurraaay everyone’s happy, and Hershey’s reunited with her husband — who was not Goeffrey St. John, or even a weird version of him to go with this weird version of Hershey. It was some cat guy instead. Actually, come to think of it, remember that one character from SatAM just known as “Cat” who was only in one episode? It looked like a much younger version of him.
EVEN IN SOME WEIRD OFF-CANON, GEOFF CAN’T GET ANY LUCK.
Then again I also had a dream that each Tumblr blog had a physical location, like stores in a mall; that is, the “mall” itself was Tumblr, and each blog had a little cubby where you could go and visit the bloggers.
I wandered around in the middle just glancing quickly at the blogs, and then I saw one that belonged to Geoffrey St. John. It piqued my curiosity, so I went over to investigate. Unlike most of the other blogs, which were highly decorated and definitely screamed the blogger’s personality, Geoffrey’s was really sparse. It didn’t read that he didn’t want anything, just that he didn’t have anything. It was kind of depressing.
Then, way off to the side, I saw a little plushie. It was like a teddy fox, and it was easily at least 25 years old. I picked it up and started to look it over, and I could just feel how beaten up and delicate it was. I think it only had one eye left (which was a button).
All of a sudden Geoff appeared and shouted (in a panicked way) for me to stop, and ran up and snatched the doll away. He held it really tightly to his chest and told me, “No, don’t touch him!! He’s too old…!” He frowned and buried his face in the doll, and looked like he was trying not to cry. It was surprisingly heart-breaking.
Lookie, Sally-mun! I’m Geoffrey, and you’re Sally!
I submitted this to you because I saw that you’re still going through problems as a result of that evaluation blog. I guess this is my way of saying that I’m here for you, and you can talk to me whenever you like, either on Tumblr or on Skype.
Getting skunks in my inbox? Awesome. Getting Nia in my inbox? Fantastic. Getting skunks AND Nia in my inbox? PARTY TIME!
Thank you, Nia! That was really cute and put a smile on my face. X3
Oh for fuck’s sake I had this really clever and funny observation about Geoffrey St. John when I got up this morning and I thought “Man the skunkophiles are gonna love this” and then I had to go to school and I’ve forgotten it.
