Am I the only one that immediately thought of this?

So a couple of years ago, I wrote a 40-ish page essay about the Sonic the Hedgehog series for a contest, and even though it was disqualified for being too long, my entry was sent to Sega along with the winners anyway because the admin like it that much. As a lot of you know, I’ve been working on my portfolio lately, so that’s one of the things I’m putting in it.
However, I’m also polishing it up a bit, since it was written so long ago and I had to bust it out in 4 days. A lot of what I’ve changed so far has been cosmetic (rearranging sentences, replacing a word with a better one, etc). I just now got to a section that I did remember being unusually small, and even now I’m not sure if it was this small because I just didn’t get around to expanding it, or if the pressure of it all strangled my mind on that specific topic and I couldn’t think of what I wanted to say. Whatever it was, I was just looking at it, and thought, “Well that’s rubbish. There’s plenty that I wanted to say here.” So I worked on it a bit.
EXCEPT “A BIT” JUST TURNED INTO ANOTHER WHOLE PAGE AND IT MADE ME THINK OF AN ENTIRE SECTION I SHOULD’VE WRITTEN IN THE FIRST PLACE BUT DIDN’T AND NOW I HAVE TO ADD JEBUS CHRISTWAGONS WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME.
WHAT WAS THAT WORD I LEARNED THE OTHER DAY? GRAPHOMANIA??
Actually at the bottom of that post it also referred to it as “graphorrhea.” That sounds a little more appropriate at the moment: Diarrhea of the pen. (Well, the proverbial pen, anyway.)
SO, it has come to my attention that my habit of comparing King Max/Acorn to any and all of Tim Curry’s roles is hilarious, so much so that a friend of mine decided to watch Clue for the first time today. In the midst of the viewing, I was asked to assign other Sonic characters to the rest of the cast as I saw fit. Oh, this is going to be fun~
Cast below the fold just in case any of you for some reason haven’t seen Clue. And if you haven’t, DO IT.
Fun fact: I love Tim Curry movies. I love it when Tim Curry has a cameo in a sitcom. I love it when Tim Curry does a voice in a cartoon or video game. I love any time Tim Curry is doing anything on my magic picture box. Why?
Because even though I see his face in front of me, I imagine Sally’s father saying and doing anything he does.
And it’s AWESOME.
I say “Sally’s dad” because there’s a clear distinction between King Acorn, the kindly king seen in SatAM, and King Max, the often dickish and not always stable former monarch in the Archie comics. But it doesn’t matter, because seeing either one of them saying and doing the insane shit Tim Curry does is never going to stop being amusing to me. They’re both hilar, albeit in different ways.
Even more fun fact: SatAM was NOT my first encounter with Tim Curry. I actually saw him long, long before SatAM as the butler in Clue; when I was a little kid I referred to him as Wadsworth until I learned his real name. But even so, King Max/Acorn is still the immediate image that’s conjured up by his presence or hearing his voice, because it’s that fucking funny.
I mean, seriously, let’s examine this for a minute.
And this is just the stuff I’m thinking of off the top of my head. Tim Curry has dozens of roles that I’ve never seen/heard and undoubtedly a shitton more that I don’t even know about. The guy really gets around. Just start picturing Sally’s father, whichever version you like, in any of his roles once in a while. I promise that you’ll have a good time.
In light of all of the discussions going around about DOMA and Prop8, I started thinking about this video again. It’s humorous and light-hearted, so don’t worry about it making you rage.
I was a big fan of the gentleman that ran this channel back when he was active, but he hasn’t really posted anything since he’s been married. Don’t let that deter you from watching his other videos, though, as they’re all excellent.
